Definition: Consecration to the Divine Mercy implies a lifelong commitment to our Lord, King of Mercy. It is an act of trust with which we express our desire for reconciliation, healing and transformation in Him. With this consecration we place our trust in the Merciful Jesus to restore the dignity of our families, to heal any situation of weakness, crisis or brokenness and to renew our lives.
What are the obligations of a soul who is consecrated to the Divine Mercy?
According to our way of life and following the counsel of our Lord Jesus Christ to Saint Faustina, we consider five essential obligations to be fulfilled by a soul consecrated to Divine Mercy:
- Have a special devotion to the miraculous image of merciful Jesus (Diary, 47, 48),
- Daily prayer of the chaplet of the Divine Mercy (Diary, 754),
- Pray at the Hour of the Divine Mercy (Diary, 1572)
- Spread devotion to Divine Mercy (Diary, 1075),
- Strive to daily practice some work of Mercy
WORKS OF MERCY
- Feed the hungry
- Give drink to the thirsty
- Clothe the naked
- Shelter the homeless
- Visit the prisoners
- Comfort the sick
- Bury the dead
- Teach the ignorant
- Pray for the living & dead
- Correct sinners
- Counsel those in doubt
- Console the sorrowful
- Bear wrongs patiently
- Forgive wrongs willingly
This School of Mercy is already bearing much fruit in various countries. May God continue to be an effective instrument for those who thirst for His Divine Mercy; may they find it thanks to its pages, may they surrender themselves ever more trustingly to it and allow themselves to be transformed by it.
