- REFLECTION:
“(70) I frequently accompany dying souls [415] and implore for them confidence in Divine Mercy and I beseech GOD for the magnanimity of the Grace of GOD that always triumphs. Divine Mercy reaches the sinner sometimes at the last moment, in a particular and mysterious way. On the outside it seems as if everything was lost, but it is not so; the soul illuminated by a ray of the strong, and last, divine Grace, turns to GOD in the last moment with such strength of love that in that last moment obtains from GOD [forgiveness] of guilt and sorrow, without giving us, on the outside, any sign of repentance or contrition, because it no longer reacts to external things. Oh how unfathomable is Divine Mercy But what horror! There are also souls that voluntarily and consciously reject this Grace and despise it. Even in the agony itself, the merciful GOD gives the soul a moment of inner lucidity and if the soul wants, it has the possibility of returning to GOD. But sometimes, in souls there is such a hardness (71) that they consciously choose hell; They frustrate all the prayers that other souls raise to GOD for them and even the own efforts of GOD…” (Saint Mary Faustina Kowalska, The Divine Mercy in my soul, Diary, 1698).
