REFLECTION:

(153) + Once I was asked to pray for a certain soul. I decided to immediately make a novena to the Mercy of the LORD and to that novena I added a mortification that consisted of wearing a chain on both legs [151] during Holy Mass. I had been practicing this mortification for three days when I went to confession and told the spiritual Father that I had begun that mortification with the supposed permission. I thought that the spiritual Father would have nothing against it, however I heard something to the contrary, that is, not to do anything without permission. Oh my JESUS, again the will, but my falls do not discourage me, I know perfectly well that I am misery. Because of my health I did not receive permission and the spiritual Father was surprised how I could have practiced greater mortifications without his permission. I asked him for forgiveness for my arbitrary behavior or rather for having guided me by supposed permissions and I asked him to change [those mortifications] for others. The spiritual Father exchanged them for an interior mortification that consisted of meditating during Holy Mass. Why was the LORD JESUS baptized? This meditation was not for me any mortification, since there was a mortification of the will in it, since I did not do what I liked, but what had been indicated to me and that is what interior mortification consists of. As I walked away from the confessional and began to do penance, I heard these words: I have granted Grace to the soul, which you had asked Me for, but not by your mortification that you had chosen yourself, but only by the act of total obedience in front of you. to My substitute I have given Grace to this soul, for which you have interceded before Me and for which you have begged for Mercy. You must know that when you annihilate your own will, then Mine reigns in you (Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, The Divine Mercy in my soul, Diary, 364-365).

SUPPLICATIONS:

– Let us ask the LORD for the Grace to intercede with faith for our brothers who still do not know the Lord.

– Let us pray for our own conversion and for the souls in Purgatory.

– For our suffering humanity.

– For the souls in Purgatory.

– For the intentions of the Virgin Mary.

– For our Holy Catholic Church.

– For our personal intentions.

PURPOSE OF THE DAY:

– Pray with your heart for others.

– Pray the Chaplet to Divine Mercy.

– Respect the Hour of Mercy.

– Try to carry out at least one work of Mercy throughout the day.

CLOSING PRAYER:

“Oh JESUS, King of Mercy, here again is the moment when I am alone with You. For this reason I beg You for all the love with which Your Divine Heart burns, completely annihilate self-love in me and instead set my heart on fire with the fire of Your most pure love”. Oh My Good Merciful JESUS, King of Mercy, I trust in You and only in You I hope. Amen. JESUS I TRUST IN YOU! . (cf. Diary, 371).
